New Career:

Pottery & Wood

Only 2 years ago,
Wendell began his new career in pottery making
and then progressed to  woodworking.

The Richness of Wood
and Pottery--
a pleasing pairing!

Art for Wendell is "Therapy--woodworking keeps the mind and the body alive."

Three "Buckeye Bowls" above are made from a buckeye tree that was used for a corner post of a pasture fence in the 1930's.  Wendell said that rather recently the old tree leaned over and functioned no more."  Then, Wendell recycled the wood into interesting bowls.  Other bowls are made of various Missouri tree woods.

While living in Venezuela, I
discovered a native form of vegetable parchment art and special tools
for embossing and punching.

This parchment craft originated
in Colombia, where monks, many years ago, worked on parchment to create  elaborate documents.

I studied this art form
and combined parchment craft
and my colored pencil work
to develop a new art form
I term "Pinturas."

In her art, she combines the detail

As a teller of stories, she enjoys
creating whimsical scenes or
